Dear friends and followers, welcome back to my channel!
On the 20th of February 2021, a United Boeing 777-200, registration N772UA performing flight UA-328 from Denver,CO to Honolulu,HI (USA) with 231 passengers and 10 crew, was in the initial climb out of Denver's runway 25 when the right hand engine's (PW4077) inlet separated associated with the failure of the engine. The crew declared Mayday reporting an engine failure. The aircraft stopped the climb at about 13000 feet, the crew requested to return to Denver after running the checklists. ATC offered any runway, they would make it happen. The aircraft returned to Denver for a safe landing on runway 26 about 23 minutes after departure. The aircraft stopped on the runway for a check by emergency services. Emergency services advised of an active fire within the right hand engine and extinguished the fire a few minutes later. The aircraft was subsequently towed off the runway to a remote parking stand, where passengers disembarked and were bussed to the terminal. There were no injuries.
The engine inlet fell into the neighbourhood of Broomfield,CO, located about 16nm west of Denver near 13th and Elmwood Street, the debris also struck through the roof of an adjacent house.
Broomfield police reported that although debris impacted the neighbourhood and damaged a number of homes, there were no injuries on the ground. The debris field expands over a nautical mile.
Ground observers reported hearing the sound of an explosion like bang, smoke and saw the debris falling down. The aircraft continued flying.

Well glad to see no one was hurt or killed. Lucky no one was outside when that stuff fell from the sky.
Guy talks about checklists like “fan blade jettison” is on the damn clipboard😂
interesting to know this.

Jesus is God & He loves you Jesus is God and He will soon be seen by all men, women, and children up in the clouds. Jesus is returning now! Exodus 3:14 (God speaking) And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. John 8:58 (Jesus speaking) Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. John 10:30 (Jesus speaking) I and my Father are one. Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, *The everlasting Father,* The Prince of Peace. Matthew 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, *God with us.* John 1:1 & 14 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 14 And the Word was made flesh (Lord Jesus), and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John 8:24 (Jesus speaking) I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. John 14:9 (Jesus speaking) Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father? Hebrews 1:1-3, & 8 (God calls His Son "O God" because Jesus IS God in the flesh) 1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things by whom also he made the worlds 3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; 8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. 1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. Titus 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Revelation 1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; *and every eye shall see him,* and they also which pierced him and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. Isaiah 44:6 (God speaking) Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God. Revelation 1:8 (Jesus speaking) I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, *the Almighty.* Revelation 22:13 (Jesus speaking) I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. --- There Are None Righteous Romans 3:10 & 23 10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Luke 5:31-32 (Jesus speaking) 31 And Jesus answering said unto them They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. 32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. 1 Peter 3:18 (The word “quicken” means “to make alive”) For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved Ephesians 2:8-9 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Looks like Obamacare
They more than likely would have used the QRH Engine severe damage/ separation checklist , unless UAL does things differently than other airlines. An emergency situation like this calls for the Quick Reference Handbook. The fire non-normal checklist is similar, but does not go into the vibration which was quite obviously there.
Thank you - very helpful!
Yeah, an "uncontained engine event" alright. That mother blew up lol!
That's why i drive and take my time🤔
They we're good at there jobs😳😁
Was it just me or did the air traffic controller kind of use ‘regular’ speech not all the ‘plane jargon’ after the pilot alerted there was a problem? Totally understandable
Very cool presentation. I enjoyed it immensely. I look forward to more video.
That was so informative, thanks!
The engine Ight imma a head out
what language is this?
Very interesting, thank you from France !
What does "heavy" mean in the communications, such as in "United 328 heavy"?
Your final comments indicate there is a movement towards single pilot crews? That's crazy, as a member of the flying public I do not approve.
🔝
Thanks You so much
Broomfield, not Bloomfield.
have you had any situation of risk like this?
Wauw! Very nice report from the event! Congratilation! Keep the good work!
Good video. Captains normally wear four stripes, Joe. Any reason for your three?
There was no mention of fuel dump. As the plane was heavy, could have caused a fire.
Great video which explain clearly the subject and show that's planes are a safe means of transport under competents hands ;)
God entered into my body, like a body. my same size. God rips my face, shoots in my mouth, gum disease. Jesus appears and laughs, come to sweet JEsus
It was just a typical Boeing flight!
If I'm on that plane, there is no way in hell I'm cheering and clapping until that goddamn thing comes to a full stop
Hi Captain Joe. What could have happened if the engine fell off completely? Would the plane have survived?
REALLY JOE, HAS CAUSE FAILED ENGINE PW 4098, BROKEN BLADE ONE 1 TURBINE, BAD INSPECTION RUTINE
It would be flying for 47 hours to get to Hawaii? Huh?
Quite dangerous!
It costs just $170 to have the fan blades inspected for metal fatigue yet some companies skip this inspection to increase their profits, probably even more-so now because of what the pandemic has done to the airlines.
That's a great costume you have on! Lol what a fake ....only in America can a dumb ass talking completely out of his google hand book get a million views. Anyone who believes this guy is a idiot
The so called Aviation experts that are featured on Network & Cable News shows should subscribe to your videos. They could learn how to explain situations like this to John Q. Public that would not put the fear of flying traveling public. Having been in several very scary inflight & on the ground incidents myself, I know the fear that passengers experience.
@4:00 was it uncontained? The blade and a half that broke (at least from the view point of the video) didn't seem to breach the nacelle. When I hear "uncontained" it is a specific failure where blade fragments exit the nacelle, something designed with extreme priority to protect against (due to piercing vitals of machine and people).
Great analysis of what happened on the plane. Great job Captain!!!!!
What happens to the INBOUND to DIA aircraft? Do they "hold" in a pattern or are they rerouted to other airports??
The rhetorical slave chemically match because flugelhorn nationally brush at a wrong grade. goofy, vengeful cloudy
ATC offered pilots a whole freakin airport to choose their landing. I don't think that's an easy split second decision..
Why not? 200+ people on board, I’m sure it’s completely standard procedure.
The video taken by a passenger of the burning engine just proves that one can shoot a video and pee their pants at the same time.
I still dont understand what happened to the engine though to cause that
Another great video - thanks. :-)
@Cassie Often I understand. But maybe, in this case, the need to do so was put to one side, bye the need to land asap...
Don't you have to dump fuel to land?
Fascinating.
How cool was this Captain, yeah I know he's trained for these situations before you start
This is what happens when you diversity hire instead of hire on merits.
Send for Casey Cassady. She'd know what to do and produce a make up video at the same time. :)
Thank you for your excellent explanation.
There was a lot learned from United Flight 232 when an engine failure killed the hydraulics on a DC 10 in flight and forced to land in Kansas. The aircraft totally lost control of the flight control surfaces with 183 passengers on board. The pilot and co pilot as well as the engineer flew purely on engines with the plane stuck in a slow left turn. The engine failure in question caused all three hydraulic systems on board the aircraft to fail because of hydraulic line routing. It was a serious design flaw. Thankfully having learned from a disaster that redundancy should have prevented Exemplary pilot skill saved the say considering that most of the passengers survived the impending crash when the jet hit the runway way too fast and with absolutely no brakes whatsoever. It cartwheeled into a nearby corn field and thankfully as I said most of the passengers survived thanks the the skill and cool heads of the cockpit crew! All aircraft are built with redundancy in mind. If one engine dies it will not take out the hydraulic systems of the aircraft causing a catastrophic control failure. In like there is a dual hydraulic system in all twin engine aircraft backed with one driven by the APU, or Auxiliary Power Unit. It is all for the safety of the passengers and people on the ground. The engineering of aircraft has gone through a lot of evolution and in the end pilot skill is what makes or breaks aviation. Thank whatever it is that grants us such skilled and cool headed personnel in times like this!!!
I always hear them heavy. Whats the word heavy stands for?
My sister was on this exact flight one week prior
Amazing to see so many armchair pilots posting their knowledge here. And probably never flew on a plane.
Cool video. I don’t fly 😆. Neat to see a detailed explanation is this event. 👍👍
Midspan blade failure, post inspections is crucial..
Dumb question...what does "heavy" mean?
Undoubtedly the best video you’ve ever done. So helpful and well explained, thank you. 👍
i never knew there was ever a debate on whether a plane should have 1 pilot or 2... good lord I hope we always have 2 pilots. i mean imagine the only pilot having a heart attack and no one able to fly the plane...
Great team effort. This is why it takes so many thousand hours to sit in those cockpit seats, or work ATC.
Don't you have to dump fuel to land?
Your added explanations make it much more engaging! Very cool.
Great video! Clear and concise. Really informative. Putting the complicated terminology into layman's terms without sounding condescending is hard but you really pull it off. Keep up the great work!
Great video. You really know your stuff. Found it very interesting and super informative.
A little different `checklist philosophy on the ´Bus; taught from day one that "there are no memory items on the checklist." It doesn´t matter how many times you practise ENG OUT in the sim, it really focuses the mind when it happens for real. Very well done to all concerned.
Good job!!
Wow, what an explanation 😻😻
Thank you! We have more respect for our pilots. They did a fantastic job! These pilots reminded us of Sully and his miracle landing in the Hudson. Thank God the engine didn't blow up over the Rockies!
Best teamwork
One-man cockpits ARE NOT a good idea, you are very right! Hopefully that won't happen.
Outstanding breakdown! Thank you for this
"Possibly letting passengers to another flight"? Nope. After that I'm taking a boat. 😐
Why would they land down wind with max landing fuel
Another example why we should be thankful for engineers. These engines are designed to contain most of the spinning mass in a blade off event. The pilot gets the praise in most of these events but without the engineering in our modern world most outcomes would have no happy endings.
I couldn't imagine being in any of there shoes. Good thing they had a well experienced pilot. I think people forget these pilots lives are on the line just as much as the passengers and they will do what ever it takes to go home safe.
You are the teacher I've always dreamed to have... Highest competence and ability to communicate it.
Wunderbar!!
Great explanation 👍
There is no "i" in Team, but there is "EA" in team.
Was there a possible bird strike
The plain truth is that Boeing main priority is being WOKE now hiring based off of skin color and not talent, skills, not experience. Quality control, manufacturing, and servicing planes is now last priority.
Amazing video , thanks! One more subscribed !
I heard about this during maintenance pms with air frame mechanics. They said somebody, among the mechanics, tried to sabotage it.
Thank you Captain Joe for the tremendous explanation and analysis you have made. You are that excellent and Brilliant person that different individuals would like to listen to, and fetch the exact information needed. I always refer most of my pals to listen to your tutorials. Indeed you are the best as you have always been, but this video has definitely taught me that you are an Aviation Icon .
It's Broomfield not Bloomfield
Happy things turned out well. Medals all around. Thank you for the analysis.
capt.. you gained weight hihihihi
Good job Joe!
I was diagnosed with herpes 7 month ago the Doctor told me there was no cure to this infection, l was only given antiviral Herpevex Acyclovir 800mg for 5days, 5times daily, the doctor said it will not kill the virus ,only slowing it a bit from spreading to other part. l was on this for the past 4months no improvement. So there was a day l came across with a testimony from a friend, so l contacted this man on getting his herbal remedy for this infection, which l paid for and received medicine after a week and some days with instruction on how to take medicine attacked. I take medicine for 2weeks before going to the hospital for test...l can show to you now that am herpes free! 😊😊. I fully believed there is a herbal cure for herpes now. l am also using this means to inform you out there to get yours as well!.. contact Dr. Robinson via Email:(drrobinsonherbalremedy1@gmail.com)
Seriously?! That many dislikes over a great explanation of the incident. What is was too calm and too good of a story🤔
pleases help me in economics sir
She? Why is Boeing plane referred as she?
The eatable page basally enjoy because cymbal bizarrely whistle from a wary downtown. cluttered, bumpy butcher
Would the effort to computerise planes try to take over, would this be possible on say an airbus 320?
Engine material is the main reason.
Some straight up Donnie Darko shit yall
😭
Love the composure of the pilot. Great video as always.
Good brief Joe, thanks
Thank you Captain
